"The Greenest Town in Fife"
Glenrothes won a Silver Gilt medal in the 2009 Britain in Bloom competition - and who knows but it might go to the European final!
Trees and flowers abound everywhere. Even the very many roundabouts have their own green ethos!
Play areas for the very young are in every housing area. Parks and playing fields are in every major part of the town. And, what is more, all this greenery is well maintained.
The neighbouring towns of Leslie, Markinch and Falkland are likewise famous for their beautiful flowers as well as their older heritage.
No one doubts that the Glenrothes area is one of the most beautiful and green parts of the Kingdom of Fife, if not also of Scotland. As a former "new town" it is now Fife's most modern town with its own ethos. As one of Fife's three biggest townships Glenrothes has a population of around 45,000.
So, a fascinating town in its own right Glenrothes has many historical smaller towns in its vicinity - Leslie, Markinch and Falkland almost adjacent and Cupar, St Andrews, Kirkcaldy, Dunermline and all the East Neuk towns not far away at all.
